Located in a township in Cebu City, the Philippines, the project primarily addresses water quality issues for local residents and nearby scenic spots. The source water, sourced from mountain springs, contains sediment, impurities, suspended matter, odor, and becomes turbid during the rainy season.
To achieve water purification, the project selected gravity-fed integrated water purification equipment, configured in parallel with three units. This arrangement was driven by two key considerations: ease of transportation, adapting to the project site's traffic and other conditions, and operational stability. If one unit malfunctioned, one or two others would remain operational, ensuring continuous water supply.
The equipment is constructed of carbon steel and features a manual control system. Automated control was chosen primarily due to poor local signal quality. Using a PLC would have resulted in operational difficulties due to signal transmission issues. Furthermore, given the high level of professional expertise required by local administrators, automated equipment could present challenges in ongoing operation and maintenance. Manually controlled equipment, on the other hand, is relatively easier to operate and maintain, ensuring the long-term stability of the water purification system to provide quality water to township residents and scenic spots.
